It is the first announced date of what promises great musical evenings: Sting, who no longer needs to be introduced, will therefore be in concert on July 16, 2024 in Toulon.
His singing tour is an opportunity for the English artist, accompanied by a rock band, to present the greatest songs from his repertoire. Those who marked The Police years, and those who mark his solo career.
The first “Toulon Festival”, that’s its name, should bring together a very fine line-up of artists between July 12 and 25. Not a new idea:but first we had to go up the Zenith coast”underlines Robert Albergucci, director of Toulon events, in charge of programming the performance hall.
Open-air performance hall
In three years, it’s done: the Zénith has regained its place on the tour route and in the spectators’ calendar. It displays beautiful complete dates. Michel Sardou, a few weeks ago, Shaka Ponk and M. Pokora next December, Pascal Obispo, it’s almost over, too!
Created at the request of the city of Toulon, Toulon Festival will allow artists – particularly international – who find the 6,000-seat rooms too small, to come and express themselves in Toulon in front of… 11,000 spectators. The arena – “we recreate the Zénith on a bigger scale” – will be installed on the square in front of the performance hall (instead of the conservatory parking lot, among others), with the stage leaning against the facade of the building.
Between 6 and 8 dates
Nearly a year of discussion was necessary to ensure that the international artist, accustomed to the biggest stages, had the optimal conditions to perform in Toulon. Sting, it was moreover “the sine qua non condition for the festival to take place this year”adds Robert Albergucci, smiling.
Otherwise, “we would have waited one more year”.
Associated with Adam concerts, Toulon Évènements is already promising an “eclectic” first edition: between 6 and 8 dates, with artist lineups, international and French, rap, rock and pop …
While waiting for the other dates which will undoubtedly increase the pressure until next summer, we already know that the arena will be decorated with food trucks for drinking and eating, the festival will be in eco cup to reduce the volume of waste and mitigate the carbon footprint. A good start, no?
Presales starting this Tuesday morning
While waiting to know the next artists scheduled to perform as part of the Toulon Festival, Sting’s date is on pre-sale from this Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. on the sites of Adam Concerts (adamconcerts.com), Zénith de Toulon (wwwzenith -toulon.com) and from this Wednesday in all the usual points of sale.
Prices: between 67.50 and 165.50 euros depending on the category.
