English singer Joe Cocker dies

British singer Joe Cocker died at 70. One of Woodstock’s last legends, he died of lung cancer, according to the BBC.

Born John Robert Cocker on May 20, 1944, this English rock and blues singer began his career in the 1960s in pubs and clubs in Sheffield, in the north of England, recalls the BBC. He then enjoyed success with his cover of the title “With A Little Help From My Friends” by The Beatles, but also with his song “Unchain My Heart” or his interpretation of “You Can Leave Your Hat On”, covered in the film “Nine and a half weeks”.

His last concert in Switzerland dates back to September 2013. He had performed at the Chant du Gros festival in Noirmont (JU). He was also present at the 47th edition of the Montreux Jazz Festival, still in 2013.
