English mother thanks stranger for helping her during a seizure of her autistic son

It’s a beautiful story, coming from the other side of the Channel, shared tens of thousands of times on Facebook: that of a man who lies on the ground to help and soothe a little boy autistic in the midst of a crisis.

Help from a “hero”

On April 12, Natalie Fernando and her five-year-old son Rudy, with autism, stroll together by a beach. When it comes time to return, the latter refuses to follow his mother and throws himself to the ground. “My son loves to walk, but he hates to turn around and go back. As most passers-by ignore her, or worse, stare at her, a man stops. “He asked my little Roo what his name was and when I explained that he didn’t really understand, that he is autistic and that in fact many challenges make our walks difficult, he said, ‘No of problem, I will lie down with him. “” Once Rudy has calmed down, the man Natalie Fernando calls hero, walked with them to their car.

A message to raise awareness about autism

Concluding her story, Natalie Fernando sent a message to people who would face similar situations in the future: “If you see a parent in difficulty, maybe take the time to say: It’s okay ?. We all walk our own way and walk it the best we can. Sometimes it takes a moment of kindness from a complete stranger to completely change your day. “
