One minute and 55 seconds. So far, Italy kept a clean sheet in the European Championship final at Wembley in London.
England got a real dream start in their pursuit of the first triumph in a championship since the World Cup at home in 1966. This when the not quite used goal scorer Luke Shaw, everyday in Manchester United, stayed ahead and bumped in 1-0 on a volley in the penalty area .
Attacking star Harry Kane started the attack on his own half of the field before he found Kieran Trippier who hit the post from the right wing.
The goal was Luke Shaw’s first in the national team jersey and according to the European Football Association Uefa the fastest European Championship final goal ever and the fifth fastest in the tournament’s history.
In terms of what it looked like earlier in this year’s European Championship, however, the goal did not come exceptionally early as both Emil Forsberg (1.22 against Poland) and Yussuf Poulsen (1.39 against Belgium) have netted faster.
