LONDON – England warned that World War III could break out in five years against Russia, China, Iran and North Korea (North Korea). This warning was conveyed by Defense Minister Grant Shapps.
According to him, the world is currently in a “pre-war” phase.
“We are at the beginning of this new era – the Berlin Wall is just a memory – and we have come full circle, moving from the post-war to the pre-war world,” Shapps said in his first major speech since taking office in the summer of 2023.
“The era of idealism has been replaced by a period of hard-nosed realism,” Shapps was quoted as saying Fox NewsThursday (18/1/2024).
“Today our enemies are busy rebuilding their barriers. Old enemies are revived. New enemies are starting to form. “The battle lines are being redrawn,” he explained.
Shapps’ speech was largely aimed at laying out arguments for increasing defense spending as a means of preventing and preparing for potential conflict, which he said could occur within five years.
“Because, as has been discussed, the era of peace is over,” said Shapps.
“In five years’ time, we will probably see many scenes involving Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.”
