The fierce Group D Euro 2020 match between England vs Scotland ended without a winner. The score was 0-0, after both teams were equally struggling to present opportunities.
Competing at Wembley Stadium, London, England, Saturday (19/6/2021) early morning WIB, the England vs Scotland match was tight. From the first half, both teams broke each other’s attacks.
However, neither team scored any goals. England vs Scotland finished goalless after a duel 90 minutes.
This result makes England collect four points in Group D, equal to the Czech Republic. While Scotland can get its first point at Euro 2020, by becoming caretaker.
The course of the match
The game was tight from kick off. England opened the threat in the 11th minute, through John Stones’ header. The Manchester City defender was able to take advantage of a corner kick, directing the ball into the goal with his head, but the ball still hit the post.
The second try came from Mason Mount. The Chelsea midfielder was able to receive Phil Foden’s header at the near post, but his flick still sent the ball to the side of the goal.
England practically dominated possession. While Scotland can only wait, and launch a quick counterattack.
However, several times Scotland’s efforts also endanger the English goal. In the 22nd minute, Kieran Tierney’s free kick directed the ball still deviated from the England goal.

In the 30th minute, O’Donnell got a good chance. Receiving Tierney’s pass from the left, he fired a shot into the England goal, but his effort could still be parried by Jordan Pickford. Che Adams failed to maximize his vomit ball.
There were not many opportunities present in the remaining time of the first half of the match. England, who dominated the ball, struggled to create a threat against Scotland. The first half ended with the score 0-0.

England had a chance through Mount, three minutes after the break. His kick made David Marshall fell up and brushed it off.
Then Reece James also had a chance in the 55th minute. Receiving Harry Kane’s pass, his shot from outside the penalty box was still too fast, and the ball was still flying slightly above the opponent’s goal.
Scotland had threatened two minutes later. Through a quick counter-attack, Adams controlled the ball in the penalty box, and tried to fire a shot right in the mouth of the goal. However, his efforts were still blocked.
Scotland’s best chance came in the 62nd minute. From a corner kick, London Dykes can continue a wild ball with a kick on goal. As the ball almost went in, there was Reece James sweeping it in front of goal.

In the 63rd minute, England replaced Phil Foden with Jack Grealish. The substitution has not had a significant impact on the Three Lions, until finally Marcus Rashford was also added to replace Harry Kane in the 74th minute.
Substitution was also not much help. England is still struggling to dismantle the Scottish defense, which is quite disciplined by Kieran Tierney and Grant Hanley.
Entering the final minutes, England had a chance through Declan Rice, in a crisis situation. The 22-year-old defender received a wild ball, but failed to capitalize on it, after being surrounded by Scottish players. Opportunities were wasted, and soon the game was over. England vs Scotland ended 0-0.
