Newspapers of England have highlighted the statements of Ibrahim Saeed, Al-Ahly’s defender and former Egypt national team, about Dutch international player Virgil Van Dyck, the Liverpool defense star, after he confirmed that he was better than him.
The English newspaper “Daily Star” said that Ibrahim Saeed said rudely that he is better than Van Dyck, who recently won the English Premier League, indicating that he has some characteristics that distinguish him from his defensive positions.
The newspaper quoted Ibrahim Saeed’s statements to “TEN” television channel, where he said: “I am more skilled than Van Dyck because he plays in only one position, while I was playing in more than one position, I am definitely better than him.”
Saeed, 40, pointed to the negative point that Van Dyck suffers from, that he sometimes loses focus in matches, stressing that having strong teammates helps him shine on the field.
He explained: “I talk seriously about this, if you compare me to it you will find that there is a huge difference between us in everything, when he loses his focus playing incorrectly, he is a good defender but he makes mistakes like all defenders in the world.”
For its part, the newspaper “Liverpool Echo” close to the Reds highlighted the comments of Ibrahim Saeed, noting that he appeared about 17 years after his move to Everton to claim strangely that he is better than Virgil Van Dyck.
She added that the Egyptian defender moved to “Goodison Park” on loan from Al-Ahly in 2003, but failed to appear in any match with Everton’s first team under coach David Moise.
The newspaper pointed out that Saeed’s career with Everton did not start after David Moyes decided to exclude him from participating in front of Liverpool because of the player dyeing his hair in red, which is the distinctive color of the Reds, the eternal competitor of the “Toffe”.
Ibrahim Saeed joined Everton joined the season (2003-04) as the first Egyptian player to move to the Premier League, but he was content to sit as a substitute in four matches against Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
It is reported that Van Dyck moved to Liverpool from Southampton in January 2018, and the 28-year-old made a strong contribution to crowning the Reds in the European Champions League, European Super Cup, Club World Cup and finally Premier League.
