England play Wednesday night international against Denmark at home at Wembley. It was everything else but a good experience for Harry Maguire in the defense of the English.
Already after five minutes, Maguire incurred a yellow card, but it was going to get worse. In the half hour that had passed, the Manchester United captain lost the ball in a clumsy way in midfield. Kasper Dolberg intercepted the ball and a desperate Maguire fouled the Dane and incurred his second yellow card and was thus sent into the shower after only 30 minutes.
– It’s clumsy and idiotic. It could quickly have been a direct red card. For a failure, the English newspaper The Guardian writes about the incident.
The Athletic journalist Oliver Kay was also not significantly impressed with what he saw of Maguire.
– The effort is genuinely one of the worst I have seen in the England kit. Scary bad. He was very good at Leicester and was sufficient for United last season, but he has been absolutely terrible so far this season. He looks totally put off by what happened in Mykonos. He needs a break, writes Kay.

Kay is referring to the incident in August where Maguire was arrested after a fight on holiday in Greece. He was later found guilty of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts at bribery. For that, he must have been sentenced to 21 months and 10 days probation.
Maguire was removed from the English national team squad for the matches against Iceland and Denmark last month as a result of the incident.
As if that was not enough, Denmark took the lead after a penalty kick by Christian Eriksen a few minutes later.
Kyle Walker kicked Thomas Delaney in the foot inside the box after poor communication with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. In his international match number 100, Christian Eriksen was icy cold from the penalty spot and sent the Danes in the lead.
