The owners of the English first division soccer club Arsenal FC have rejected the official purchase offer from Daniel Ek, founder of the audio streaming service Spotify. The Swedish billionaire announced this on Saturday via Twitter. “This week an offer went out to co-owner Josh Kroenke and his bankers. They replied that they didn’t need the money,” said Ek.
The current club boss Stan Kroenke was heavily criticized in connection with the planned participation of the Premier League club in the European Super League, which has now been put on record. The US billionaire has been the majority owner of Arsenal for a decade and took control of the club in 2018.
“I’ve been an Arsenal fan since I was eight. Arsenal are my team,” said Ek, who has not given up hope even after Kroenke’s cancellation. “If the situation ever changes, I would still be interested,” said Ek.
