Michael Palmer passed away last Saturday after collapsing during the match between Crowland Town and Leverington, counting for the Peterborough & District Football League, an English amateur league. The information was released by Crowland Town, the club that the 23-year-old represented. The athlete fell inanimate, was even transported to a hospital unit, but ended up not resisting. “As some of you may already know, Crowland Town FC tragically lost one of our own yesterday while playing the game they loved so much. Our player Michael Palmer tragically collapsed during the game and never regained consciousness. He was the kindest, most caring person, and a passionate Manchester United fan. He always pushed himself to do the best he could and he will be sorely missed by everyone at the club and in the local community. A big thank you to the players and staff at Leverington FC for their help and respect. Our thoughts are with Michael’s family and friends at this sad time.” For its part, the Lincolnshire Football Association sent its condolences to family, friends and the club for which Michael Palmer represented. “Our thoughts at this devastating time are with the family and friends of Michael Palmer. On Saturday, Michael had a tragic breakdown and lost his life while playing the game he loved so much. On behalf of the entire football family, our condolences go out to his family, friends and the Crowland Town FC club.”
