Books – Muhammad Emara:
Engineer Tariq Al-Nabarawy, President of the Engineers Syndicate, commented again on the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities to approve the graduation of students from the Faculty of Engineering after four years of study, according to the credit hours system.
The Engineers Syndicate said, in statements to Masrawy, that if a student graduates from engineering within 4 years according to the decision of the Supreme Council of Universities with approved hours, it will be considered by the Syndicate’s Engineering Education Committee to consider the student’s accreditation afterwards, indicating that if the committee considers that the decision The four years is dangerous for graduates of engineering, education and the profession, these graduates will not be in the union
The Engineers Syndicate explained that the student has the right to obtain a Bachelor of Engineering according to the approved hours, but the Syndicate has the right to determine the conditions for enrollment in it, saying (when I have no less than 150,000 students in the final years of engineering education, and when a college comes at the highest scientific, professional and academic level And students you give them the right to in 4 years, and the rest of the students you do not give them that right, and this represents a danger and unequal opportunities).
He continued: (20 years ago when talking about the idea of engineering institutes and that it will not affect the level and their number is small, today after 20 years their numbers are more than the government number, and their impact is negative, and we cannot do anything about them).
He stressed that there is no incident regarding the non-enrolment of any student from an engineering institute, and that this year new controls were put in place that were applied by the Supreme Council of Universities, stressing that there is no registration for institutes that will not submit to the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Authority, which means that this institute is in violation of the law.
Al-Nabarawy pointed out that the status of the student is that the ministry transfers him to another institute or college of engineering according to the law, and the ministry is the one who determines the years of the ministry in this case, saying (the ministry has limited itself to authorizing an institute that does not have a quality certificate to have students studying).
And he went on to say that there are 900,000 engineers in the syndicate, pointing out that Egypt only needs 12 or 13,000 engineers annually, and the minister told us that only 22,000 engineers are accepted, and the difference is that we are looking for places for it, and if the opposite happens, unemployment will increase.
He pointed out that the 900,000, of whom 150,000 are on pension and in various categories, and that the lesson today is specific points represented in (what is Egypt’s need for the number of engineers annually? 12 or 13 thousand), and that when accepting more numbers than that, unemployment increases and wages decrease, but The rest find jobs.
He asked, “Will it be ensured that the number represents only 5% of the students with high efficiency, and that within two years in this way we will find 10,000 engineers?” Egypt, and he requests the number for the benefit of the engineers and the country).
He pointed out that the accepted number represents 18,000 engineers, more than the required number, with a percentage of engineers migrating to search for job opportunities.
