Engineering classes to appear in Belarusian schools from the beginning of the new academic year | Society

The Minister of Education Andrey Ivanets spoke about this innovation, writes BELTA.

Ivanets noted that interest in engineering professions is declining. In this regard, the Ministry of Education is taking similar measures.

The Belarusian National Technical University has developed a curriculum, according to which, from September 1, it is planned to train 1.5 thousand people in engineering classes and groups throughout the country.

So the economy intends to motivate applicants to enroll in engineering specialties and in the future to cope with the shortage of specialists.

The relevant ministries will also support the work of engineering classes, since it is there that new personnel will be trained for their areas.

The minister stressed that the developed unique interdisciplinary curricula unite such disciplines as physics, mathematics, geography, biology, chemistry, computer science.

“We believe that the positive effect that we received from the introduction of pedagogical classes five years ago will be possible in the medium term when forming engineering classes,” the head of the department noted.

Ivanets said that when preparing children, they will implement the “school-university-enterprise” link.

He recalled that each technical university has close ties with the real sector of the economy, including joint departments, preparation of term papers and theses.
