Engen: There is no substitute for blood – 24 donors were honored in Engen

Also this year the blood donation ceremony took place in Engen on a small scale. Of the 24 donors, however, only about half were present at the Engener Museum.

On the occasion, Mayor Johannes Moser expressed his thanks to the blood donors: “The awarding of the blood donor badges is a special day in our city,” said Moser. Donating blood is a sign of solidarity. “This commitment must be emphasized especially in our time, when egoism is often the focus,” said Moser.

As in the previous year, the Engener blood donors were allowed to take a tour of the current exhibition in the Engener Museum following their honor. The works of the artist Hyunjeong Ko will be shown there as part of the “Random Rendez-vous” exhibition.

The mayor also emphasized the commitment of the local association and the members of the Youth Red Cross. The preparation of the blood donation campaigns required a lot of time and commitment. “You don’t know who you are helping and you will never know. Nevertheless, it is important to you to take on a sense of responsibility for your fellow human beings, ”said DRK readiness manager Petra Nagel-Kümmerle to the donors.

Much has become possible in modern medicine. “There is still no substitute for donated blood,” says Nagel-Kümmerle. The demand is steadily increasing. “Donating blood is a matter of heart and honor for you,” thanked the on-call manager.

They were honored for their willingness to donate

Kurt Schneckenburger was honored for 150 times donations. Wolfgang Janisch, Anja Grundmüller, Thomas Helmbrecht, Marita Kamenzin, Horst Lohberger, Karin Ortmayer, Holle Rauser, Sven Wikenhauser and Timo Winterhalder have donated 50 times.
