The submission of home insurance declarations for reduced ENFIA is officially extended until March 1, 2024, by the decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy Haris Theoharis and the AADE governor Giorgos Pitsilis.
According to the decision, “in the definition of a new deadline, until March 1, 2024 (instead of 2/22/2024), for the submission, modification or correction of applications and the confirmation of the necessary data, as a condition for granting a reduction of the ENFIA to insured residences of natural persons for the current year, the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Mr. Haris Theocharis and the Governor of AADE Mr. Giorgos Pitsilis proceeded with their joint decision.
The specific term of residential insurance for natural persons, in connection with the ENFIA discount, concerns insurance policies against natural disasters (earthquake, fire and flood) for the year 2024.
In particular, with the decision of Mr. Theohari and Pitsili, for the year 2024 it is predicted that:
– Taxpayers’ applications for the granting of a reduction of the ENFIA on insured residences and their amendments and corrections shall be submitted no later than 1/3/2024.
– The confirmation of the data by the insurance companies takes place no later than 19/3/2024.
The outstandings
According to the AADE data, until yesterday 344,000 applications had been submitted to the myPROPERTY platform. Of the applications that have been submitted, 19,098 are pending, while approximately 261,000 applications have been approved as the property identification number (ATAK) was identified with the insurance policy.
This means that the owners of the specific properties (ATAK) will see in the ENFIA settlement statement that the tax is reduced by up to 10% compared to last year. The rest of the applications need minor corrections which will be made by the tax administration and then, if there is no reason for rejection, they will receive the green light to calculate the discount.
The applications that were “cut”
Four out of ten applications were “cut” from the discount of up to 10% to ENFIA as the residence was either not insured for both earthquake and fire and flood or the insured value was less than 900 euros per sq.m.
Based on the law, if the duration of the insurance is less than one year, the reduction of the ENFIA is adjusted proportionally. Thus, for 12-month insurance, the tax is reduced by 10%, for 9 months the discount is 7.5%, for six months it is limited to 5% and for three months to 2.5%, while no reduction applies to homes insured for a shorter period of three months a year.
Statements
As Mr. Haris Theoharis stated in this regard, “the connection of home insurance with ENFIA discounts is an innovation of the Government, a measure which is being implemented for the first time. The Ministry of Finance recognizes that submitting, amending or correcting applications, as well as confirming the details of insured homes, is a complex process, especially when there is no previous experience. Therefore, we deemed it necessary to extend the initial deadlines for the submission of the relevant declarations by the beneficiaries, now until March 1, 2024 (and 3/19/2024 to confirm the data). In this way, we do everything possible to facilitate the taxpayers, but also the insurance companies”.
Mr. Giorgos Pitsilis stated: “Considering that this is a procedure that is being implemented for the first time, we are doing everything necessary to facilitate the citizens who are entitled to the ENFIA reduction to complete the submission of their applications.”
It is also noted that applications and corrections or amendments etc. of home insurance declarations are submitted through the digital portal myAADE (myaade.gov.gr), following the path: Applications/ Popular Applications/ myPROPERTY/ Reduction of ENFIA of insured homes.
