The soil nutrient measurement and advisory technology is a product of Technology Company Limited Agriculture enfarm. The origin of this platform was the handshake between urban planning expert Nguyen Do Dung and environmental scientist Ho Long Phi.
Enfarm supports farmers around the clock
Co-founder and General Director of enfarm Nguyen Do Dung expressed his belief and pride in the existing technology. This technology helps farmers become agricultural experts with a comprehensive understanding of the soil.
They strongly believe in a smart fertilization process, a platform that connects farmers to the market and is also an important solution to increase farmers’ income. At the same time, green and sustainable agricultural development should be ensured.
Speaking to us, Mr. Dung expressed his concerns about soil, fertilizers, green agriculture and sustainable development. Youth on the Internet.
Using the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), enfarm researches and develops intelligent device solutions for fertilizer technology. Currently, Enfarm produces two types of equipment: handheld and equipment sets for farms over 10 hectares.
By using the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI), enfarm focuses on researching and developing intelligent device solutions for fertilization technology.
Talking numbers
– Fertilizers are eliminated 35% farmers’ agricultural costs (according to USDS, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, 2022).
– 60% The amount of fertilizer used is not absorbed by the plant (study by Xing Yu et al., 2022).
– One $120 billion wasted worldwide due to ineffective fertilization (calculations by Zion Market Research, 2022).
– 34% Global arable land is being degraded primarily through overfertilization (study by Gebremedhin et al., 2022).
– 2,6 Gigatons of greenhouse gases are emitted by fertilizers, accounting for 5% of total global greenhouse gases (study by Gao and Serrenho, 2023).
The device integrates sensors to collect information and is embedded deep into the ground. Recording device – transmits data to the server system every 15 minutes.
The AI is responsible for evaluating the criteria of the four components: soil, water, plants and fertilizers. From there we offer specific solutions, e.g. E.g. what fertilizer to fertilize, how much to fertilize, when to fertilize and how much water to water… completely by phone.
“We use machine learning and user data to convert sensor signals into NPK metrics. The accuracy is equivalent to that of a laboratory,” said Mr Dung.
But the land of each region will be different. Therefore, the nutrient content will also be different. Not to mention that the types of plants grown there are not the same.
These are problems that were foreseen by enfarm. In order for the device to measure, calculate and give correct diagnoses and recommendations, everything must be based on a scientific basis and the huge data storage that enfarm collected and built a long time ago.
Enfarm can calibrate soil properties and industrial perennial crops such as coffee, durian and dragon fruit, which are widely grown in Vietnam.
As a Vietnamese technology developed by Vietnamese people, this is so far the only technology on the market that provides farmers with advice in Vietnamese. This is also why many people compare Enfarm to “an AI doctor that accompanies farmers 24/7.”
A very new and different feature that has been successfully integrated into enfarm is the ability to provide important advice to help farmers increase their income – Photo: NVCC
Increase the economic value of agricultural products despite low prices
A completely new and different feature, Mr Dung said proudly, is that it has been successfully integrated into enfarm and can provide important advice to help farmers increase their income.
Actual data collected by enfarm from 2 cooperatives and 10 farm households across 1,000 hectares of coffee growing area Đắk Lắk. The result is a 20% increase in productivity with the same or up to 50% less fertilizer and AI pest diagnostics, market price forecasts…
“An increase in productivity of 20% for the same investment costs can bring gardeners a lot of money. On the other hand, if the rural environment is improved, less polluted, greener, world “We will have a different view of Vietnamese agricultural products,” shared Mr. Dung.
Enfarm also integrates many other applications such as weather forecasting, providing information on humidity, pH, irrigation level and plant health, farm management, etc.
Seven soil indicators, including three NPK fertilizer indices, moisture, pH, conductivity and temperature, are measured by Enfarm and reported to the host phone.
Additionally, Enfarm can use AI to identify pests and diseases. Simply take a photo of the tree’s leaves and trunk, and the application will show you what pests and diseases the tree is struggling with and how to fix them. This is one of the positive aspects of Vietnamese technology.
In the future, farmers will be able to register for green, clean and organic farming certificates using this tool…
Products of the same line with similar features from many countries are available at the right price: $1,500 (China), $3,000 (USA), $9,000 (Malaysia).
Enfarm alone rents equipment for about VND 5.1 million/ha per year. In return, you will receive information on seven soil indicators, including three indicators for NPK fertilizer, moisture, pH, conductivity and temperature.
