Energy voucher – Ministry of Climate and Environment

Energy voucher

From 1 August to 30 September 2024, applications can be submitted for an energy voucher – a one-time cash benefit for lower-income households for electricity. The support is intended for around 3.5 million lower-income households.

Who is entitled to the voucher and in what amount?

Every household is entitled to an energy voucher if the income threshold does not exceed:

  • PLN 2,500 for one-person households;
  • PLN 1,700 per person for multi-person households.

The amount of the voucher will depend on the number of people in the household:

  • PLN 300 for single-person households,
  • 400 PLN for 2-3 people,
  • 500 PLN for 4-5 people,
  • PLN 600 for 6 people and more.

If the household uses heating sources powered by electricity, the value of the energy voucher will increase by 100%. Depending on the size of the household, it will be from PLN 600 to PLN 1,200:

  • PLN 600 – in the case of a single-person household,
  • PLN 800 – in the case of a multi-person household consisting of 2 to 3 people,
  • PLN 1,000 – in the case of a multi-person household consisting of 4 to 5 people,
  • PLN 1,200 – in the case of a multi-person household consisting of at least 6 people.

The condition is that such a source must be entered or reported to the Central Emissions Register of Buildings (CEEB) by 1 April 2024 – in the case of sources already in operation earlier, or after that date – in the case of main heating sources reported or entered for the first time to the CEEB.

The “zloty for zloty” principle

When paying out an energy voucher, the so-called zloty-for-zloty rule will apply. Therefore, if the income criterion is exceeded, it is still possible to apply for an energy voucher. In such a case, the amount of the benefit will be reduced by the amount of this exceedance. The minimum amount of energy vouchers paid out will be PLN 20.
