Some suppliers will probably become more expensive this year. “The increase will be significant. The increase in wholesale prices has been 57 percent for gas and 60 percent for electricity over the past year. As the stock exchange part of the price is important for the calculation of the final price, it will certainly be reflected, “Štěpán Křeček, BH Securities’ chief economist, told Práva.
–
According to him, however, there will also be competition, where individual suppliers will try to delay the increase in price in order to attract customers who have already become more expensive. “It is likely that the increase in prices for gas and electricity for households will be over ten percent,” Křeček added.
–
ENA analyst Jiří Gavor estimates that the price impact will be up to ten percent for electricity and five to ten percent for gas.
–
“I think that this year will definitely be reflected in the prices for households in the form of tariffs rather intended for next year. Most price adjustments will be made after the holidays. No trader will probably increase the price of his entire portfolio, but products for an indefinite period or new fixations, “said Práva Gavor.
–
According to him, price adjustments are traditionally made before the start of the new year, and it will be the same this year. “Traders do not yet need to project it immediately, because they bought electricity for this year last year,” he added.
–
Fixation pays off
The average electricity consumption in Czech households is 3500 kWh per year. At a price of approximately CZK 4 per kWh, an increase of one tenth would mean higher annual costs by 1,400 crowns. In addition, over 1,000 crowns will be paid by households for gas after the price increase.
–
According to experts, price fixation can prevent a jump in prices. “It is obvious that everyone will gradually become more expensive and the advantage will be given to customers who have fixed the price,” Křeček said.
–
According to Gavor, people will get rid of the freedom to decide on suppliers for a while, but in the period of expecting price growth, the fixation will pay off and it can be expected that growth, especially for electricity, will continue.
–
“The year 2022 will definitely not be the year when electricity prices will be reduced. The decline in supply on the German energy market will culminate, as the last three nuclear power plants will be shut down, ”Gavor pointed out.
–
According to Křeček, electricity sources may be missing in Central Europe, and this would push up prices. “Although we are still energy self-sufficient, we still sell electricity on the European market. The fact that we will generate electricity and the Germans will not have it will make energy more expensive in our country as well, “he said.
–
The sellers have not yet announced a rise in prices. “We buy electricity for our customers in advance and continuously, which allows us to keep stable prices for customers even at the moment on the currently unfavorable circumstances on energy exchanges. We do not plan to increase prices in the foreseeable future either, “E.ON spokeswoman Martina Slavíková told Práva.
–
According to Bohemia Energy spokeswoman Hana Novotná, it depends on whether prices for 2022 will not be significantly reduced by the end of the year.
–
A possible increase in power electricity by 30 percent would mean an increase of about 12 percent in total electricity payments. Gas prices could rise in the autumn.
–
“Electricity prices on stock exchanges are rising sharply. This is mainly due to the price of emission allowances, which is a record. But we have a policy that protects customers. We do not anticipate changes in the main price lists this year, “CEZ spokesman Roman Gazdík told Práva.
