Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The energy crisis is currently engulfing several countries in the world, starting from the UK, China, and now also threatening India.
This condition occurs due to a complete combination of the scarcity of supply of energy sources, such as gas and coal, rising gas and coal prices, soaring demand for electricity, and carbon emission control targets.
In the UK, for example, there has been an increase in electricity rates, as well as difficulty in getting access to fuel for vehicles. The increase in electricity tariffs is caused by an increase in demand for natural gas, thus raising the price of this low-emission fuel.
Meanwhile, the energy crisis in China can be seen from the country’s energy demand which has soared past pre-pandemic levels, resulting in a surge in energy demand in the Bamboo Curtain country. On the other hand, China is experiencing a shortage of coal supply, coupled with the situation of continuing to increase coal prices, and plans to control carbon emissions.
Then, India is also threatened with a similar crisis due to the crisis in demand for fuel supply, but electricity consumption which focuses on industry continues to rise.
It is not impossible that the energy crisis that is currently happening in the UK, China and India, could also threaten other countries in mainland Europe.
