Energy company denounces scams with stolen credit cards for service payment | Caribbean

The energy company Air-e warned about the use of stolen credit cards for the payment of the energy service. This is a strategy used by criminals to cheat to users.

In this scam model, criminals use social media to make users believe that they can get a discount so that they cancel 30% and up to 50% less of the bill.

The scammers would be using the stolen or cloned credit cards of clients to pay other people’s public services with them in exchange for receiving part of that money through different virtual platforms.

“Do not be fooled by criminals who offer supposed discounts on energy debts when making payments with credit cards, which are actually stolen or cloned cards and are rejected days after the transaction”indicated the Commercial Manager of Air-e, Claudia Liliana Gómez.

Faced with this form of fraud, the energy company in the Caribbean Together with the Attorney General’s Office, the identification of the possible members of this gang began.
