How can waste be avoided in everyday life? Luca Biebermann takes up this topic in a video with which she took first place in the energy and environmental competition of the “Newspaper in School” (Zisch) project. The competition, which was organized by our newspaper with the Allgäuer Überlandwerk (AÜW) and the Reischmann fashion house, was about the environment.
The 16-year-old student at the Staatliche Realschule Sonthofen took the break sales as an occasion for their video. There the goods are handed out in the bags customary for bakers. However, Biebermann advocates doing without the bags and serving the baked goods directly. Schoolchildren could bring their own lunch boxes for storage.
Energy and environmental competition by Allgäuer Zeitung and AÜW: 16-year-old wins with a video to avoid waste
“Luca made a really cool contribution,” says Karin Siegel, energy advisor at AÜW, at the award ceremony. “Short, crisp, good” is the video. “That convinced us.” Biebermann is delighted with the prize money of 300 euros. “I didn’t expect it at all,” says the 16-year-old from Oberstdorf. She does not yet know exactly what she wants to do with the money. “Maybe I’ll buy something nice from it on vacation.”
She became aware of the competition through her geography teacher Julia Kraus, who presented the campaign in class. She definitely wants to do it again next year. With her video she was already able to make a difference. The AÜW gave Biebermann’s class lunch boxes. The headmistress Petra Kraus-Rahl would also like to offer the students sustainable snack boxes.
