FC Energie Cottbus is strengthening its offensive. In the coming season, former Bayer Lucas Copado will be hunting for goals for the Lusatian team.

Munich – After six months in Austria, Lucas Copado is back in Germany. Next season, the 20-year-old attacker will be hunting for goals for FC Energie Cottbus in the 3rd division. The Lusatian club is loaning the striker from Linzer ASK until the end of the season.

After only five appearances – Copado hopes for match practice in Cottbus

Until last winter, Copado was still playing in the regional league with the reserve team of FC Bayern Munich In 65 appearances, the son of former Bundesliga professional Francisco Copado scored 23 goals and assisted another 21 goals. In the winter, Copado finally moved to ASK Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga.

However, the former Bayern player only made four brief appearances there, and the striker has not played any minutes in the Bundesliga this season. The talent was only allowed to play in the cup. Now Copado is moving back to Germany on loan to the former Bundesliga club Energie Cottbus.

Important piece of the puzzle in the offensive – Cottbus looks forward to Copado in attack

The Lusatians, who were looking for offensive reinforcements, are hoping that the 20-year-old will provide the attacking power they need for the new season. “We know how talented he is and we want to use that for our game to make it a little more unpredictable and flexible. We believe that Lucas will help us in the 3rd division with his style and game idea,” Cottbus coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz is quoted as saying by liga3-online.

The Austrians hope that the loan, which runs until 2025, will give the young attacker more match practice and a further leap in development. “The 20-year-old offensive player is now set to gain match practice at third division club FC Energie Cottbus. The loan contract with the traditional German club, which managed to return to professional football by winning the championship last season, runs until summer 2025. LASK wishes Lucas Copado all the best and much success for his time in Cottbus!”, says the Linzer ASK club website about Copado’s move to the 3rd division.

He could make his debut on Saturday. FC Energie Cottbus will then host Alemannia from Aachen at 4:30 p.m. Another important date will be the 12th matchday. Energie will face TSV 1860 Munich in the Stadion der Freundschaft. A duel that the ex-Bayern player will certainly be particularly looking forward to. (Sebastian Isbaner)
