Enel X has decided to make it possible to travel by electric car from North America to the southernmost part of South America, between Ensenada, the Mexican peninsula of Baja California and Ushuaia, a city in southern Argentina. The company announced that it had achieved a charging corridor that crosses 11 countries. Approximately 196 JuiceBox charging points which are all visible inside JuicePass application. Some energy supply points have been positioned in particular places from a geographical and tourist point of view.
For example, in Chile, in Torres del Paine, a splendid national park, and in San Pedro de Atacama, a city located near a salt lake in the heart of the driest desert in the world. In Peru it can be recharged at the ancient Inca city of Cuzco. Another charging point is also located on the road to Machu Picchu.
Creating a 100% electric Pan American charging corridor is in line with the Enel Group’s commitment to following the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on ensuring access to clean and accessible energy, promoting inclusive economic growth, promoting resilient infrastructure, sustainable industrialization and innovation , smart cities and actions to combat climate change. Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X, said about this project:
We took up the challenge of building a network of charging points using our JuiceBox technology and sending our crews to the most remote locations in Latin America. This long-lasting infrastructure project is proof of our commitment to promoting electric vehicles around the world, making the widespread choice of electric mobility a possibility even in distant places where charging facilities for electric vehicles were not previously available.
