Endurance, the horse show in Sardinia

There is less than a month to go until the start of the Sardegna Endurance Festival 2024, scheduled from 26 to 29 September at the Horse Country Resort in Arborea. The event will host the “FEI Endurance European Championship for Young Riders & Juniors”, a continental challenge for under-21s, and the “FEI Endurance World Championship for Young Horses”, a global event reserved for young horses under eight years old. Supporting the organization of one of the most important global events in the discipline is the International Equestrian Federation, which this year will enjoy the exceptional patronage of three Ministries: Tourism; Environment and Energy Security; and Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests. Completing the rich list of institutional sponsors are the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and its Forestas Agency, the Municipalities of Arborea and Terralba, CONI and FISE.

Endurance and the Sardinian appointment

Endurance competitions highlight the horse and rider’s abilities in terms of the distribution of forces during the competitive race, but without putting the health of the participants at risk. The main protagonists are usually Arabian horses, very resistant and with a strong physical temperament, but Anglo-Arabs and English thoroughbreds also achieve remarkable performances. There are 120 kilometers of planned routes, between the territories of Arborea and Terralba, crossing pine forests and wetlands, meadows and Mediterranean scrub, the coast and the fishing village of Marceddì, in a truly breathtaking environmental and landscape context.

Verona Horse Fair

In view of the 126th edition of the Fieracavalli in Verona, scheduled for 7 to 10 November 2024, the spaces of the Horse Country Resort confirm themselves as the beating heart of the island’s equestrian sports with the competitions for the “Premio Regionale Circuito Foals”, dedicated to one- and two-year-old colts and fillies, scheduled for the weekend between 30 August and 1 September. The competition, valid for participation in the Verona event, will conclude in the first weekend of October with the finals of the three-year-old regional colts (males and females). The events are curated by the Grighine ASD equestrian club and the Usignolo ASD equestrian club.
