One hundred and thirty-eight athletes and 153 horses are ready to take to the track, at the facilities of the Horse Country Resort in Arborea, for the Sardegna Endurance Festival. At stake is the individual and team title of European under 21 champion and world young horse champion. Twenty-nine of the 29 nations in the challenge: Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Croatia, United Arab Emirates, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Jordan, Great Britain, Italy, Kuwait, Holland, Poland, Portugal, Qatar , Romania, Syria, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Turkey, Hungary and Uruguay.
TEAM ITALIA – These are the Azzurri called up for the under 21 European Championship: Maria Chiara Fagiani (Elka Du Barthas), Mauro Fedriga (Kimono Dell’Orsetta), Lucrezia Romina Mondini (Twilight La Roncola), Martina Pisano (Zagaia Dei Laghi), Carlotta Ganelli ( Free Gemma). The Italian team of the Young Horse World Championship is totally pink: Lucrezia Bellaccini (Kendra), Caterina Coppini (Ancient Oriente), Camilla Curcio (Sassikaia Dei Laghi), Diana Origgi (Mogadishu Bosana), Silvia Scapin (Magaria Bosana).
PAST EDITIONS – The endurance discipline introduced the world challenge reserved for young horses in 2011. The one in Arborea is the tenth edition for individuals and the first for teams. The United Arab Emirates top the medal table with 5 golds.
In 10 under 21 continental editions, however, Spain has won the most individual gold medals, 5 in total. France follows with 2 golds and, on equal merit, Italy, Belgium and Holland (1). France reigns with the highest number of under-21 continental team titles: 5 gold medals. Spain follows with 4. Italy faces the European Youth Championship with the legacy of the bronze obtained in Vic 2022 by Caterina Coppini (Vezire), Valentina Galli (Badire des Egas), Giorgia Guzzo (Artemisia Bosana), Giulia Moniz (Wento Second) and Samuel Perri (Olimpia della noce).
