The President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, and his deputy, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf, the latest political developments in Libya, and the military, security, and economic situation.
During the meeting, Liv also briefed the results of her visits to a number of Libyan officials, and her meeting with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Abdullah Batili.
Lev and Prime Minister Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba discussed the political developments in Libya and the importance of unifying international and local efforts, and supporting the efforts of the United Nations Mission to Libya to reach elections.
In another meeting with UN envoy Abdullah Batili on the same day, Lev affirmed her country’s full support for Batili and his work to set a constitutional framework and a timetable for elections this year, she said.
On Monday, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Near Eastern Affairs discussed with Khalifa Haftar the importance of supporting Batili and the need to involve all political institutions and parties in defining a clear path for the elections, according to the US embassy in Libya.
