The All Blacks will have to deal without Sam Darry and perhaps also Sam Cane for their test match against the Blues next Saturday.
Sam Darry, injured in the knee in training, is out of the rest of the All Blacks’ tour of Europe, while Sam Cane, injured in the head against Ireland on Friday, is not certain to play against France next Saturday, announced their coach Scott Robertson on Saturday. “Sam Darry suffers from knee injury sustained in training (before the match against Ireland Editor’s note) and will be unavailable for four to six weeks.Scott Robertson told New Zealand media during a conference call.
The coach specified that he was considering calling on another player to replace the second row, who started against Japan but who was not on the scoresheet either against England or Ireland. As for Sam Cane, the third wing row who had to leave his partners on Friday at the end of the match won 23-13 against Ireland due to a head injury requiring stitches, his presence for the All Blacks’ next test match, against France on Saturday, is uncertain. “Sam Cane’s injury required stitches, he will undergo a concussion protocol”indicated the coach. “The doctor did a hell of a job, it was a deep cut”.
Cane is a centerpiece of the New Zealand XV. He is one of four players, along with fellow flanker Wallace Sititi, prop Tamaiti Williams and winger Mark Tele’a, to have started every match for the All Blacks since the start of their tour, against Japan, England and Ireland. After France next Saturday, New Zealand will finish their tour the following Saturday against Italy.
