Producer Matt Selman of The Simpsons told how they predict the future.
The animation The Simpsons, which for many is the Nostradamus of contemporary times, has shared predictions from Donald Trump’s presidency to the craze for virtual reality glasses. After so much guessing, the producer of the series, which premiered in December 1989, revealed the mystery.
There would be 34 predictions that have come true after being shown in the animation. For producer Matt Selman, these divinations would be nothing more than the sum of history and mathematics, that is, the deduction of the events that are exposed in the series, would be the sum of these two branches.
“If you study history and mathematics, it would be literally impossible not to predict things,” Selman told People magazine. Another point is that scriptwriters study “human stupidity” and by logic and based on past actions, it is possible that “stupidities” are repeated again but with other people.
Predictions
“If you say enough things, some of them will overlap with realityand that is the mathematical element,” added the producer. One aspect that the producer regretted is that people spread false images of supposed predictions on networks.
“It was nicer when we only predicted real, horrible events, not when people start inventing scenarios to keep alive the idea that we are magical,” said the series producer.
The series of more than 700 episodes has predictions such as: the attack on the Twin Towers, Neymar’s injury for the 2014 World Cup, the existence of video calls, Donald Trump’s presidency, virtual reality viewers, digital watches , mp3, among others.
