The “F.-A.-Gauthier” will come out of its dry dock on Saturday at the Verreault Navigation des Méchins shipyard, before heading for Matane, in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, where sea tests will begin for the next week.
The Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ) indicated that the necessary repairs were carried out by applying the manufacturer’s protocol. There were no unpleasant surprises during the work, said the STQ.
Management expressed confidence that the repairs will fix the problem of an oil leak at the seals on one of the boat’s thrusters.
The navigation tests will allow the STQ to finalize the process of putting the ferry back into service, which we hope will be completed by the end of November and the beginning of December.
These sea trials should last over a week. If they are conclusive, the vessel will then be back in service for customers.
The “F.-A.-Gauthier” entered dry dock at the end of October.
The STQ stressed that it will be possible to check the applicable guarantees for this work, once the tests are completed.
Close follow-up will be carried out.
