Many have longed for the day: From today hairdressers in Lower Saxony are allowed to resume their work. The state guild association of the hairdressing trade warns of a bankruptcy wave.
State guild master Manuela Härtelt-Dören fears that more than one in ten hairdressing salons in Lower Saxony will not survive the corona pandemic. She criticized NDR 1 Lower Saxony for the slow pace of state aid – funds from the so-called bridging aid three could only be applied for now. Härtelt-Dören expects that many companies will now raise their prices for haircuts.
80,000 companies are starting up nationwide
As of today, 80,000 hairdressers nationwide are again allowed to cut, dye, wash and blow-dry hair. According to the professional association for health and welfare services (BGW), the following new hygiene measures apply to visits to the hairdresser:
- Hairdressers and clients must wear a medical mask both in the salon and during house calls. For activities that are very close to the customer, such as make-up, shaving or beard care, the hairdresser must at least be equipped with an FFP2 mask. The mask should be supplemented with protective goggles or a face shield if work is carried out close to the face, as it is called.
- The minimum area of ten square meters per person (including hairdresser) must not be undercut. However, there are exceptions for small salons.
- In addition, as before, the following are stipulated: a minimum distance of 1.5 meters between the individual people, regular ventilation of the rooms, hand disinfection before entering and washing the hair before cutting.
