Ambon Mayor Richard Louhenapessy, who participated in the search for victims on the last day, said that this was the first incident to have happened.

“So you know, this is Amahusu’s event. For decades, tourists have come and hang out here, but this is the first time this has happened and events like this have happened,” said Richard.

“Since decades of boats from Australia and other countries he has anchored here and people dive, people swim has never happened like this so this is the first time,” he said.

Richard will also evaluate the needs that are still lacking at the marine tourism site, such as a hyperbaric chamber or oxygen sweep facility to relieve decompression sickness due to diving.

“Like Camber, it’s time for us to have because so far we have only been in the Navy. If we want to develop diving seriously, we have to pay attention to it and this will be a note for us going forward,” he said.
