CONAKRY- On a working stay in Conakry since Tuesday February 20, 2024, the mission of the FIFA delegation ended this Saturday February 24, 2024. Made up of El Hadj Wack Diop, Head of the FIFA Regional Office in Dakar, and Fatou Camara, Development Projects Manager, the FIFA delegation had, during its stay, working meetings with the President of the Guinean Football Federation (FGF), Mr. Aboubacar Sampil, the members of the Executive Committee of the FGF and the General Secretariat, before carrying out field visits.
The working meetings of the FIFA mission focused on topics such as the presentation of the Forward program, the essential role of the Dakar Regional Office and the presentation of the FIFA financial governance program, highlighting the importance of transparency and accountability in financial management.
The project approval cycle at FIFA was discussed during the work while highlighting the steps necessary to guarantee the success of the initiatives supported by the world football body. The delegates also presented current projects to the FGF, highlighting the progress made and the challenges to be met. The Forward 3.0 action plan, accompanied by the 11 criteria, was discussed in detail, with a focus on developing a clear roadmap for the implementation of upcoming projects.
In addition to the working meetings, the delegation paid a visit to the Nongo Technical Center where it appreciated the new synthetic turf. Concerning the Nongo Accommodation Unit, after the visit, a request was made for rapid implementation of the center.
In the new strategic plan of the FGF Executive Committee approved by FIFA, three synthetic fields are planned.
It is in this context that the delegation went on Friday February 23, 2024, to Mamou, in the company of the first vice-president of the FGF, Mr. Mamadou Barry, the secretary general, Mr. Lancinet Keïta Kabassan, and Mr. Mamady Kaba, Forward FGF manager, to visit one of the sites selected for the construction of a synthetic lawn.
Local authorities, including Governor, Colonel Aly Badara Camara, the Prefect, Colonel Mamadi Diallo, and the President of the Special Delegation of Mamou, Nouhou Diogo Bah, welcomed the choice of their city by the new Executive Committee of the FGF. A total commitment has been expressed to fully accompany and support the synthetic pitch project.
The towns of Faranah and N’Zérékoré are the other two which will each benefit from a synthetic pitch. The visit of the FIFA delegation to Conakry not only strengthened the collaboration between FIFA and the FGF but also laid the foundations of a new era for Guinean football.
