End of protective measures against avian flu after 30 days without a new outbreak

The authorities have ended the protective measures related to bird flu in the Tarn, after 30 days without a new outbreak being detected in the department. Farmers are therefore no longer subject to restrictions on poultry movements, he reports The shipmentthis tuesday.

Biosecurity measures still in place

On November 17, no fewer than 20,000 hens had to be slaughtered on a farm after corpses carrying the virus were discovered. Five days later, a restricted area around 72 municipalities had been established. Forced to keep poultry on farms, ranchers had been deprived of all sales.

Despite the lifting of these restrictions, the biosecurity measures put in place on November 10 continue to apply. Dedicated to preventing the spread of the virus on farms by wild birds, they consist of protecting poultry and alerting the DDETSPP (the departmental directorate for employment, work, solidarity and population protection) in case of suspicion. Any yard operator must also register with the town hall.
