End of Armistice, Pakistani Taliban Order Attack!

Jakarta

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) armed group, also known as Pakistan Taliban, announced the end of a ceasefire agreed with the government in June. The TTP has also ordered its members to carry out attacks across the country.

“Military operations are underway against the mujahideen in various areas, so it is imperative that you carry out attacks wherever possible across the country,” the group said in a statement on Monday (11/28) as reported Al JazeeraTuesday (11/29/2022).

The group, ideologically allied with Taliban Afghanistan says it faces an increasing number of attacks by the Pakistani military, particularly in the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest Pakistan.

“We convey to the Pakistani people that we have repeatedly warned you and been patient so that the negotiation process is not at least sabotaged by us, but the army and intelligence agencies have not stopped and instead continued their attacks, so now our retaliatory attacks will begin across the country,” he said. ‘ he added the statement.

The TTP has been waging an insurgency against the Pakistani state for more than a decade. The group calls for the imposition of harsh Islamic law and the release of key members arrested by the government.

Early on 16 November, the TTP claimed responsibility for an attack on a police patrol at Lakki Marwat, about 200 km (125 mi) southwest of Peshawar. Six policemen died in the attack.

After the attack, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said ‘terrorism’ continues to be a major problem Pakistan.
