The creators of the zombie series already know how they want to finish it.
It was recently announced that the expanded eleventh season of The Walking Dead it will be the last. In 2021 and 2022 there will be 24 episodes that will end the mother series, but also form the start of a number of spin-offs around individual characters.
The makers already know well how they are going to finish the series. “I think so,” showrunner Angela Kang told Entertainment Weekly when asked if the producers know what the ending is going to be like.
“I have a good feeling and of course we have the Robert Kirkman comic book as our blueprint. There are things we want to play with. Everything in the series can have a slightly different approach.”

Parallel universe
“It’s like we stepped into a parallel universe with some of the characters from the comic, so we need to add some original stuff along the way that will hopefully be really cool. I have an idea and we’ll get to that,” Kang said.
In 2021 we will get six more episodes for season ten and if the recordings can take place, season eleven will start on its 24 episodes later that year.
