It looks like PC gamers have found a way to enable NVIDIA DLSS 3 frame generation on NVIDIA RTX 30 and 20 series GPUs in Portal Prelude RTX, a new version of Portal used to showcase the latest NVIDIA technologies such as DLSS, path tracing and, of course, ray tracing. It can be done, bouncy dll file NVIDIA DLSS 3 Frame Generation and replacing the regular .dll DLSS. A few caveats: Only version 1.01 of this DLL works, and it appears to only work in Portal: Prelude RTX and not other DLSS 3 compatible games. Why this particular loophole exists is not entirely clear, but it appears to work . You can watch Portal: Prelude RTX running on the GeForce RTX 3060 below.
As you can see, although DLSS 3 on a 30-series GPU theoretically works, the results are very unstable due to poor frame synchronization, rendering the entire effort pointless. The whole point of DLSS 3 is to smooth out performance, so constant stuttering defeats the end goal. But nevertheless, technically it works.
