In a heartbreaking statement, Romy’s mother and Norah Carpentier paid tribute to her “stars” who disappeared too quickly on Monday in Lévis.

“My babies! I love you so much, ”escaped Amélie Lemieux when she saw the portraits of the young little girls placed under a pergola transformed into an improvised memorial in the Chutes-de-la-Chaudière park, in the Charny sector where the family has roots.

The bereaved mother hastened to take the pictures in her arms as well as the scout scarf which belonged to Norah, kissing and caressing them.
Mme Lemieux remained for long minutes under the shelter, sometimes kneeling to grab stuffed animals or touch the messages of sympathy posted by the hundreds, over the past few days, by residents, relatives and many children.

Besides the sound of the waterfalls, only the mother’s sobs could hear the silence that enveloped the place. Two songs, Walk Me Home from Pink and America is crying Cowboys dashing, were also heard, the last songs heard by the mother with each of her daughters.
“You are all my life”
In the middle of the afternoon, the lawyer for the mother of the victims, Maxime Roy, had informed the media that she would go there to meditate.

It was an opportunity for Amélie Lemieux to send a poignant message to her daughters. “My two beautiful princesses of love, I wanted and waited for you so much. From the first breath, I loved you unconditionally, ”she said to the cameras, a short speech that reflected all the suffering she experiences.
“You are my whole life, my reason for existing. Be my stars in the night who will guide my steps through this immeasurable pain. I love you madly. I love you infinitely, ”continued the woman, sometimes interrupting herself because of the emotion.

It was his first public appearance since the enigmatic accident involving the vehicle of his ex-spouse, Martin Carpentier, last Wednesday evening. On Saturday, the bodies of the two girls were discovered in a wooded area in Saint-Apollinaire, ending the longest Amber alert in Quebec.

In her statement, the woman thanked the volunteers, police and other stakeholders who took part in the field operations, as well as the citizens “for their support”.
For his part, Me Roy explained that the bereaved family has retained a lawyer to better manage media attention, police relations and initiatives such as a GoFundMe fundraising campaign, which had raised more than $ 25,000 at the time of write these lines.
