Inauguration of the largest pumping station by Armin Laschet – the most important building block for the Emscher to be free of wastewater in all municipalities

Emscher area. The Oberhausen pumping station will go into operation on Friday (20.8.) In the presence of NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet, and with it the entire Emscher sewer (AKE) over the entire length of 51 kilometers between Dortmund and Dinslaken. The event will be broadcast live on Friday from 2 p.m. on Facebook on the Emschergenossenschaft website – www.facebook.com/EGLV.de.

The Emschergenossenschaft heralds the final phase of the Emscher conversion with the commissioning of the Oberhausen pumping station! It is the largest and most important milestone in the generation project, which is unique in the world: the system is the final component in ensuring that it is completely free of wastewater. By the end of the year, the Emscher will be completely cleared of dirt in all neighboring cities – for the first time in 170 years!

The Emscher Cooperative
The Emschergenossenschaft is a public water management company. It was founded in 1899 as the first organization of its kind in Germany and has since taken care of, among other things, the maintenance of the Emscher, sewage disposal and purification as well as flood protection. Since 1992, the Emschergenossenschaft has been planning and implementing the Emscher conversion project, in close cooperation with the Emscher municipalities, in which almost 5.5 billion euros will be invested over a period of around 30 years. www.eglv.de
