Robin Wright agreed to participate in the Together Now short film project, in which the Mexican Patricia Riggen and the Argentine Lucía Puenzo take part, as it is an adventure that highlights strong, resilient and empowered women.
“I am very proud to be able to participate in projects that give visibility to women from different fields and with so many different perspectives on life. That enriches our view of the world today, ”Wright said recently.
Together Now seeks to inspire and empower the female gender, it also includes the Polish Malgorzata Szumowska, the Brazilian Kátia Lund, the American Catherine Hardwicke, the Italian Maria Sole Tognazzi and the Indian Leena Yadav.
And as actresses, Cara Delevingne, Freida Pinto, Eva Longoria and Marcia Gay Harden, among others.
Internationally awarded for her work as Claire Underwood in the House of Cards series, Wright, 54, mentioned precisely this Netflix teleserie as her main driving force to encourage her to direct her first film, Land, screened at the last Film Festival of Sundance.
“I had the idea of making a film, but I was thinking about it a lot, I didn’t know how to get on the road, and the main driver was that in House of Cards I not only made Claire, but I directed ten episodes in different seasons, and it encouraged me a lot.
“I collaborated with extraordinary people, from whom I learned. There I discovered this passion for being behind the camera and offering my own vision and a story. Land came and I could not resist, “said the nominee for the Emmy for her work and also holder of the Golden Globe.
According to his own description, Land is a story of resistance, survival and, above all, of personal reconciliation.
“She is a woman tormented by a tremendous tragic event in her life, by a loss that would drive anyone crazy. She decides to distance herself and goes somewhere else to find herself and question everything.
“This personal search seems very significant to me today that we live full of fear due to this confinement and that there is a lot of anger and frustration. It was a very instructive and catalytic process ”.
Land, released in the US in February (it has added only 2.3 million dollars at the box office) has the co-star participation of the Mexican Demian Bichir and was filmed in Calgary, Canada.
“Since I met him (Bichir) I loved his vibe and that transparent essence that he has. I knew he was ideal for the character of Miguel and he did it in an extraordinary way. He is a great actor and a great person, “he said.
