Inflation reached 4% last October, down but still at a high level for the French. So, to make ends meet, why not try co-option? The principle is simple: an employee helps with recruitment in his company by proposing a candidate, and if he is hired, he receives a bonus. To do this, a platform exists (Basile), and in six months, the number of registered employees has doubled.
More and more companies are doing it to combat recruitment difficulties, and employees are also benefiting from it. A win-win mechanism, like in this telecoms company where Europe 1 visited.
A bonus of 1,500 euros
“I co-opted Sara. I always kept an eye on her, we gave each other news,” explains Pierre, who was contacted a year ago by a former service provider looking for work. He knows that his company lacks engineering profiles like his, so he submits his application which is subsequently accepted.
Sara is hired and her trial period is validated. As for Pierre, he will receive a bonus of 1,500 euros. “The motivation is above all to recover a profile which was very interesting for the company”, he affirms, not shying away from his pleasure at this bonus: “Behind, 1,500 euros is a good surprise. I have children who are in higher education, so at this time, it’s still interesting.”
A way to facilitate hiring
With bonuses ranging from 500 to 1,500 euros, co-optation represents a cost for Pierre’s employer, a telecommunications operator. But it is also a way of facilitating hiring, particularly for the rarest profiles, explains Julie Gode, recruitment manager. “In technical professions, the co-optation channel represents approximately 10% of our recruitments,” she specifies at the microphone of Europe 1.
“Our profiles of IS architects (information systems, editor’s note), developers, core network engineers, will be the professions in which we will have the highest co-optation bonus,” adds Julie Gode. Proof that the financial incentive works, when the company doubles bonuses to boost recruitment for certain positions, employees send twice as many co-optation proposals.
