Employees Trapped in Pakuwon Tower Elevator in Jakarta

Tebet Police Chief Kompol Chitya Intania Kusnita revealed the chronology of the elevator incident at Pakuwon Tower Casablanca, South Jakarta (Jaksel). The elevator in the 47-floor building experienced a problem when it was time to go home from work.

At 18.00 WIB, Hours After Work

Kompol Chitya said that at 18.00 WIB, Monday (8/5/2023), it was time for employees in the building to go home from work. According to him, the routine of the employees in the building during working hours is often to use the elevator access.

“The usual routine of office work hours in the Pakuwon Tower building, all employees use elevator access, Pakuwon Tower has 47 floors,” Chitya said in a written statement, Tuesday (9/5/2023).



At 19.15 WIB, dozens of employees were trapped in the elevator

Then at around 19.15 WIB it was reported that the elevator at Pakuwon Tower was jammed. There are dozens of employees who are trapped. According to the police there were 11 people, but according to the Pakuwon Tower management there were 13 people.

“At 19.15 WIB at that time 11 employees in the elevator were stuck or jammed,” he said.

At 21.50 WIB, the survivors were evacuated

Chitya said that at 21.50 WIB, all victims were safe and could be evacuated. The victims were trapped in elevator H9, elevator H8 and elevator H6.
