To carry out cleaning throughout the Rennes University Hospital, the Breton company Net Plus employs 180 employees. Since the start of 2023, the job descriptions of employees responsible for cleaning have changed, say the demonstrators who denounce unsustainable rates. Tuesday afternoon, without warning the hospital, there were around fifty of them who noisily invaded the premises of the CHU management, on the Pontchaillou site.

“We are asked to achieve in seven hours what we did in nine hours,” denounce employees
Chanting “Net Plus mistreated, CHU subcontracted”, the demonstrators quickly found the office of the director of the CHU which they occupied for a few minutes. The objective of these union and association representatives is to denounce the situation that employees have been experiencing for several months. Rachida, 45, has been a cleaning worker at the hospital for twenty years. Today, she is off work. According to her, this is the consequence of the workload imposed by her employer.the work he gives us, we can’t do it. It’s five minutes per office, but the rooms are not all the same size. What I did in nine hours, I am now asked to do in seven hours, we can’t do it!” says the employee.
Richard is team leader, he also believes that there is a lot of pressure today to carry out tasks “for which we need more staff”. At 61, Richard says he has never experienced such a situation in the company he has worked for for thirty years, “I don’t sleep at night anymore.”. Net Plus employees are few in number in the group of demonstrators.because they are afraid of coming and losing their job“, says Rachida.
For company management, the workload is realistic
The management of Net Plus assures, in a press release, that in connection with the CGT, only four people have expressed dissatisfaction with working conditions since the implementation of the new job descriptions. The company emphasizes that these job descriptions were modified at the request of the CHU and that “the workload is realistic“.
Net plus management also indicates that it invited its employees to round tables on working conditions. Finally, she adds that of the hundred Net Plus employees in Pontchaillou, the seniority is around five years, a guarantee according to the company of respect for the well-being of employees. For its part, at the end of the demonstration yesterday, the management of the CHU undertook to receive a delegation of demonstrators in two weeks, on October 26.
