Employees of Vlissings tank storage company are going to campaign: ‘Work stoppages are not excluded’

Chant van den Berg, director of FNV Havens: “Vesta does not want to tip the employees off, make no arrangements for early retirement and do not offer a long-term employment guarantee. Our members will not accept that.”

The company in Vlissingen employs 25 people. “In the coming days, the union will take actions with its members to enforce their demands. Work stoppages are not excluded,” the union said.

Vesta and the FNV have a different view of the collective labor agreement for the employees of the tank storage company. Vesta wants a collective labor agreement until the end of 2021 with a wage increase of 1 percent as of 1 July 2021. FNV wants a new collective labor agreement for 3 years, with a wage increase of 3 percent in 2021 and 2 percent for 2022 and 2023. The FNV also wants an employment guarantee until 2023 , instead of until December 2021.

More changes

The union and the Vlissingen company are not on the same page on other fronts either. The union wants to see a change in various allowances, supplements to parental leave and an earlier retirement scheme. According to the trade union, the company from Vlissingen wants to halve the contribution to the Safe Harbor Foundation – a foundation that is committed to safety in ports, the union does not agree with that.
