Employees of the same ‘bubble’ group can share a table in the cafeteria at work, whether or not they live together

The Department of Health allows, as of this Monday, that employees who are considered a “bubble” group of stable coexistence within the work environment share a table in the cafeteria or the establishment of restoration of workplaces, also in hospitals and health centers.

Of course, the capacity of the premises will still be limited to 50 percent of its capacity and consumption inside can only be done sitting. In addition, the tables or groups of tables, between which the safety distance must be met, will have a maximum of six people.

This is included in an order published this Monday, in which a paragraph of the order issued last week is modified to close the hotel business and other non-essential activities until next December 4 in a total of 60 municipalities.

According to this regulation, in force since Saturday, those work center catering establishments could open to serve the employees, but they could only share a table if they were living together – the same was established for the relatives of the patients who used the cafeterias of hospitals and health centers.

However, the order published this Monday by Sanidade, which has already entered into force, allows “working people who form a group of stable coexistence in the center of the workplace to sit together.”

In the explanatory memorandum, the Consellería justifies the extension of this measure because it takes into account “the relationship in the work environment” between the employees, which determines that “they can be considered for these purposes as a ‘bubble'”.

This restriction, which is now being clarified, refers to the 60 municipalities in which the hotel industry had to close since Saturday and which, in addition, remain closed on the perimeter. Specifically, they are La Coruña, along with Arteixo, Culleredo, Cambre and Oleiros; the city council of Lugo alone; Santiago with Ames, Boqueixón, Oroso, O Pino, Teo, Trazo, Val do Dubra and Vedra; Ferrol, with Ares, Fene, Neda, Narón and Mugardos; Orense, with Amoeiro, Barbadás, Coles, O Pereiro de Aguiar, San Cibrao and Toén; Pontevedra, with Vilaboa, Ponte Caldelas, Poio, Marín, Barro, Campo Lameiro, Cerdedo-Cotobade and Soutomaior; and Vigo with Mos, Nigrán, Gondomar, Porriño and Redondela.

The municipalities of Vimianzo, Monforte, Burela, Viveiro, Carballiño, Verín, Xinzo, Cangas do Morrazo, La Estrada, Lalín, Silleda, Ponteareas, Tui, Cambados, O Grove, Vilanova de Arousa and Vilagarcía de Arousa also have these limitations.
