Employees in the care service at work with infection – NRK Vestland

The outbreak dates from the weekend when large numbers of young people were at the nightclub Meat Point in Sogndal.

Today Sogndal introduced curfew at the hospital following the outbreak.

Three of the confirmed cases of infection are people who work in the health sector. The municipality reports that these have been at work with face masks while they have been infected.

A total of 18 users in Leikanger and Sogndal will be tested as they have been in contact with health personnel.

The users are fully vaccinated, while the staff are mainly partially vaccinated. They believe they have the outbreak under control.

– We see the risk of infection as small, but we want to test to be on the safe side, says infection control chief in Sogndal, Jan Ove Tryti.

The municipality expects answers to about 100 new tests today and will inform about the results from these later today.

Encourage people to test themselves

The municipality has encouraged everyone who was at the nightclub Meat Point on July 17 after 22:00 in the evening to test themselves as soon as possible.

Apart from the visit ban, Sogndal or the other municipalities will not introduce any further infection control measures. Nevertheless, they encourage people to follow infection control advice and to be tested for the slightest suspicion of symptoms.

No restrictions will be introduced related to the bar industry, but the nightclubs must be subject to stricter control.

– We will follow up the nightclubs and perform infection control checks, says Tryti.
