Employees can bankrupt a company, because dissatisfaction means trouble

Satisfied employees equals higher profit, says Michal Novák, director of the eNPS TOP Employers of the Czech Republic study.

With the right work with employees, companies can increase profits by up to hundreds of percent. Or, conversely, they can reduce profits until the complete collapse of the company.

Michal Novák, Director of eNPS TOP Employers of the Czech Republic.

According to him, every company strives to increase efficiency and profitability through cost-saving measures or the introduction of technological innovations. He also invests considerable money in measuring the customer experience.

“Most companies in the Czech Republic, however, forget about the satisfaction of their employees, which can be a significant source of efficiency and profit for the company, if the satisfaction, motivation and commitment of employees work properly. From worldwide experience, I have proven and calculated that companies, by working properly with employees, can increase profits by up to hundreds of percent. Or, on the contrary, they can reduce the profit up to the complete collapse of the company, “says Michal Novák, Director of eNPS TOP Employers of the Czech Republic.

“In case of dissatisfaction of employees, the costs of leaving the company, recruiting new people, their training and apprenticeship to the level at which the outgoing employee was significantly increased for the company. With the departure of the employee, know-how often also leaves, projects are delayed and thus investments are made. The productivity of other employees is declining. It often takes many months for a new employee to learn and the company’s productivity is lower for such a long time than if an experienced employee stayed in the company, “he explains in an interview with SZ Byznys and compares quality relationships in the workplace to good food that he is going to cook.

“If I choose the right procedure, I follow the ingredients correctly, then the food will be as good as from the chef. However, if I choose the wrong procedure, even with quality ingredients, the food may not be edible at the end of cooking, even if the ingredients were the same. The same applies to the company’s work with employee satisfaction, “he adds.

See if you work in a “happy” company

The eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) study is an employee satisfaction survey that helps companies increase their performance through employee satisfaction. The important thing, according to the clients, is that managers receive feedback.

“It is interesting that there are companies that can create a high-quality brand and awareness on the outside, but they are not so strong in employee research, and vice versa. Satisfaction of employees at almost unknown companies is great, “says Jakub Hořický, director of another study TOP Employers of the Czech Republic, in which students vote for companies on the contrary.

In each category of the eNPS TOP Employers of the Czech Republic competition, only the winner is announced. The organizers do not publish the final scores, as well as comparisons with other companies. The company is interested in these more detailed data, but they will be available discreetly via the SKARIERA.CZ career portal or during personal meetings.

“Businesses today are in a difficult situation in terms of inflation, staff shortages, geopolitical impacts on energy and other challenges they face every day. We do not want to give them worries and questions as to why they are doing this, but we want to show good examples. Those companies that have the most satisfied employees in their field and can thus inspire other employers, “explains Michal Novák, director of the study, which is the first List of Reports available.

How the survey went

The data collection took place from 19 January to 2 February 2022 online and all employees of thousands of companies could participate in it in three ways:

  1. The company sent a link to the questionnaire itself.
  2. The company found the company on the voting website and by confirming the employee’s work email, it was verified and his vote counted.
  3. The company was evaluated by a former employee of the company, who had to prove that he really worked for the company (eg a photograph of part of the payslip).

Participation: more than 30,000 respondents.

The questionnaire was prepared by the organizers according to the worldwide Net Promoter Score methodology. During the preparation of the questionnaire, the experience of the organizers and know-how from the previous 11 years of the TOP Employers study according to university students were used.

“We used the eNPS survey for the first time. It’s great feedback from our employees that motivates us not to rest on our laurels and constantly improve our work environment and corporate culture, to enjoy our work and to be in line with the personal lives of our employees, “he says of winning in one of the categories HR manager in innogy Lenka Kružíková.

“We have been using eNPS for a long time because of its speed and simplicity, it gives us immediate feedback on how the satisfaction of our employees evolves over time and in which areas and departments we need to improve. For our employees, this is a great signal that their opinions are heard, seen and management works with them, “confirms Zita Václavíková, HR Director of the Srovnejto Group.
