An employee was killed in a stabbing at youth care institution Yorneo in Emmen on Saturday evening. Two persons have been arrested. The victim is a woman. She died on the spot from her injuries.
The stabbing took place around 8:30 p.m. on Stationsstraat. A staff member of the youth care institution was seriously injured. Several emergency services attended the scene, but that was of no avail to the victim. She died on the spot.
The victim was a counselor at Yorneo. The mayor of Emmen, Eric van Oosterhout, announced this on Twitter later on Saturday. The institution is described on its own website as ‘Family assistance with accommodation’.
Shortly after the incident, one of the suspects was arrested. The second suspect fled, but a few hours later he was also arrested. Police are investigating the cause of the stabbing.
