“Since installing the air filters, we have had only one infection in all schools,” says Kuijers. “We know from previous experience that after an infection it spreads to a number of other children in such a class. The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science disputes this conclusion of Kuijers. “It is of course good news that there are fewer or no corona infections at various schools in Staphorst,” said a spokesperson. “The GGD assumes that this is because many residents are now immune and adhere to the corona measures. It is unlikely that an air cleaning system will cause this.” Eindhoven University of Technology is currently conducting research into the use of air filters in education and will come up with conclusions in February.
One infection
The PO council cannot comment specifically on these air filters, but is generally reserved about the use of these types of filters, a spokesperson said.
