The longest cargo ship to dock on the east coast arrived this morning at the Port Authority’s Elizabeth terminal.
The Marco Polo is 1,300 feet long, which makes it longer than the Empire State Building.
“The arrival of the CMA CGM MARCO POLO at our port underscores the ability of the Port of New York and New Jersey to serve the ultra-large cargo container ships that increasingly transport food, supplies and goods needed to sustain millions of residents, support thousands of jobs and keeping businesses open, ”Rick Cotton, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said in a press release.
The entire vessel spans approximately five blocks from Manhattan.
