TBILISI, November 28 – Sputnik. The Georgian government is working on education reform, according to which the curriculum in the country’s schools will be based on patriotism and respect for national and personal identity, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said while presenting the government program in parliament.
The Parliament of Georgia of the 11th convocation expressed confidence in the renewed government headed by Irakli Kobakhidze and the government program for 2025-2028 entitled “Only with peace, dignity, and prosperity for Europe.”
“We need a fundamental reform, work on which has already begun… We will do everything possible to ensure that our curriculum in schools is based on these values, which are called patriotism, which are called respect for identity, respect for national-personal identity, and for this, of course, there will be “everything has been done,” Kobakhidze said.
According to Kobakhidze, the implementation of reform in the education sector will face opposition, since very serious forces have been creating wrong trends for years.
The Prime Minister noted that we are talking about “liberal tendencies” that have been deeply rooted in Georgia since 2004.

“The result of all this was that, when preparing the national curriculum, specific forces tried to minimize the importance of patriotism, the importance of the perception of national identity in the perception of children. Of course, this depravity must be completely eradicated in the general education system,” the prime minister said.
According to Kobakhidze, the first document that was developed and approved by the Georgian government several months ago was the document of national goals for general education of Georgia, based on these values.
As the Prime Minister noted, education will become a matter of concern for the government.
