Rap songs about soccer stars are nothing new: Neymar, Ronaldo and Mbappé are all sung regularly and widely. One of those who had to do without his own song is the French international N’Golo Kanté. So far, it should be said here. Because last Friday the Berlin newcomer Isaiah not only released a first-rate party track with his new single “Kanté”, but he finally gave the player his well-deserved hymn of praise.
Just a few weeks ago, Isaiah introduced himself to the German rap scene with his first single as “Chbaby”, born and raised in Berlin-Charlottenburg. The fact that he has big strides to make as the son of rapper Max Herre and soul musician Joy Denalane leaves the newcomer indifferent. Instead, he sets out to build his own legacy and soon threw another brick with the double video of “OMW” and “Struggle”.
Now the foundations for the upcoming debut EP “Colors” will be further strengthened with the new single “Kanté”. The song is not only a tribute to France with the footballer of the same name, but it also sounds musically like our neighbors. It means: clubby dance sounds, kind of like MHD’s Afro-Trap, but on Four-To-The-Floor. In addition, Isaiah offers silly onomatopoeia: “Baby I give myself the advantage / baby is just an acquaintance / dream of me far away, Alicante / when I’m with the boys on the corner of Kant, Kanté”. The content of the new song is therefore less important than the recent double singles “OMW” and “Struggle”, but focuses mainly on the flow and rap technique.
